The Board of Directors of Oficemen has appointed Elena Guede as the new CEO of the employers’ association that represents all companies dedicated to the integrated manufacturing of cement in Spain. With a PhD in Chemical Engineering and an Executive MBA, Guede has a solid and extensive professional career, closely linked to the cement sector from the beginning.

The president of Ciment Català, Salvador Fernández Capo, congratulated the new CEO of Oficemen, highlighting “her knowledge and experience in the sector”, demonstrated over more than three decades in senior management positions in the areas of quality, environment, innovation, operations, sustainability, and business strategy, both in Spain and internationally. “Her professional track record is the best guarantee for driving the major strategic priorities that will shape the present and future of the cement industry: progress towards net-zero emissions, the development of the circular economy, a commitment to innovation and digitalization, and boosting the sector’s competitiveness”, stated the president of the Catalan employers’ association.

With this appointment, Elena Guede becomes the first woman to assume the general management of Oficemen, succeeding Aniceto Zaragoza, who held this position for the past 20 years.

The new president began her professional career in 1995 at the Cementos Lemona factory as head of the laboratory. In 2013, following the acquisition of Cementos Lemona by CRH, she was appointed plant director, becoming the first woman to manage a cement factory in Spain. She also has extensive experience as a member of the boards of directors of various companies, which strengthens her leadership profile, strategic vision, and knowledge of corporate governance.
