Fourth year below 2 million tons exported

For the fourth consecutive year, cement exports closed below 2 million tons per year. Sales in foreign markets have traditionally been a source of activity for local factories in times of crisis in domestic consumption, as has happened in the last decade. But the exponential growth in energy costs and inflation, which had a very negative effect on the margins of the cement and concrete business, once again left exports at a very low volume.

As a consequence of this situation, the competitiveness of Catalan companies in international markets only allowed the sale of 1.86 million tons outside our borders. For their part, imports contracted to a third of the volume of the previous year, due to low consumption in the domestic market.
