New ESG Observatory for the cement industry
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a strategic and transversal element of our industry. The Cement and Environment Labor Foundation (Fundación Laboral del Cemento y el Medio Ambiente, CEMA Foundation) launched, during 2023, the new ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) Observatory for the cement sector, in collaboration with Forética, a leading organization in sustainability and corporate social responsibility. The digital observatory replaces the periodic studies on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), which had been carried out every two years.
The first study on CSR in the cement sector served to determine the degree of integration of CSR policies and activities. The second edition focused on biodiversity as an intrinsic part of sustainability in the cement sector. During the third edition, the role of the study as a CSR observatory for the cement industry was strengthened, and during the fourth study, the social action activities carried out during the pandemic, and aspects linked to equality and diversity, were highlighted.
Since 2023, and taking into account the changing context of sustainability and its growing importance, the CSR study has been transformed into a new digital ESG Observatory. This change is relevant not only in form, but also in substance, as it reflects a much more strategic conception of sustainability, reinforcing the indissoluble link with business management and the creation of shared value.
