Energy recovery from waste, the main objective of factories
More than half of the 6.25 million euros invested during 2023 to improve the environmental performance of Catalan factories went to investments related to energy recovery. The use of waste as an energy source reduces fossil fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions.
Overall, environmental investments increased by 41%. Energy efficiency and the prevention and reduction of particulate emissions into the atmosphere from the storage, handling and transportation of materials were the other major destinations for economic funds.
