Preservation and recovery of natural spaces
The exploitation of quarries to obtain limestone, which is the base of cement, entails environmental impacts. That is why all the quarries have integrated restoration plans for the affected spaces, which consist of rehabilitating the areas as exploitation ceases, and which contemplate the evaluation of these projects by the Public Administration.
The commitment of the cement industry to the preservation and recovery of natural spaces has once again become clear during the year 2022, last period with available stats. During this year, 22 new restored hectares were added to the accumulated total since 1981. And the preservation of biodiversity is one of the of the essential components of the sustainable management of mining resources, as detailed in this Fundación CEMA Manual.
