Quarries restoration
Exploitation of quarries toobtain limestone, the baseof cement, entails environmental impacts. For this reason, all quarries have integrated restoration plans for the affected areas, which consist in rehabilitating the areas as the exploitation ceases.
Cement industry's commitment for thepreservation and recovery of natural areas is again evident in 2018. More than 1,700 hectares restored, represent a 7% increase over the previous year. Biodiversity preservation is one of the essential components of sustainable management of mining resources, as it is outlined in theCEMA Foundation Handbook.
