Energy consumption
The recovery of cement consumption in the domestic market since 2014, although modest and far from the level of consumption considered standard for a society as Catalonia’s, has led to a significant increase in the use of energy resources in the factories. During 2017 - last year with official data - energy consumption increased about 6% over the previous year.
Given the diversity of fuels used, the measure used to homogenize the quantities is the joule (symbol J), unit of energy, quantity of heat and work in the International System of Units. unit of work or energy in the International System of Units (SI); it is equal to the work done by a force of one newton acting through one metre in the direction of the force. In fact, due to high consumption in cement factoriesgigajoule (GJ), which corresponds to one billion joules, is used.
In the evolution of energy consumption, an increase of 82% in alternative fuels based in plant biomass (agricultural origin, shells, energy crops or forest timber) stands out
