Foreign market

After 4 consecutive years of decline, exports from Catalan factories increased by 10%, reaching 2 million tons. However, sales abroad were weighed down by production costs, especially those derived from CO₂ emission allowances. This element, greatly limited the competitiveness of Catalan factories, since countries that are outside the EU ETS carbon market do not incur or have repercussions from thesecosts.

On the other hand, the contraction of domestic market due to the slowdown in activity as a result of the health emergency, caused a considerable decrease in cement imports, which fell to one third compared to the previous year.
