A representation of Ciment Català participated on March 2 in the evaluation session of the COP26 in Glasgow on climate change, held in the auditorium of the Palau de la Generalitat. The presence of representatives of the Catalan cement industry is part of the institutional activity of the Association, allowing contacts at the highest level with representatives of the Catalan government and members of the Parliament of Catalonia.
The conference COP26: the keys and the challenges, opened by Teresa Jordà, Minister of Climate Action, Food and Rural Agenda of the Generalitat, began with the intervention of the person in charge of mitigation of the Catalan Office for Climate Change, Iñaki Gili. In her presentation, she presented the main agreements and technical advances in mitigation, adaptation and financing reached at the United Nations Summit on climate change COP26, held in Glasgow at the end of last year.
The central part of the act was constituted by a round table of analysis on the current challenges, policies and actions to face the challenge of the climatic emergency. The experts who spoke were Olga Alcaraz, professor and coordinator of the Climate Change Governance Group at UPC, Sergi Cuadrat, consultant on Climate Change and Sustainability, and Marta Torres, principal investigator at IDDRI. At the end of the table, a public intervention session was opened, where managers and professionals from companies and entities presented the contributions of their sectors to the fight against the climate emergency.
