The Board of Directors of Ciment Català has appointed Ana Salgado (Barcelona, 1998) as the new director of the entity. Salgado takes over as head of the Group of Cement Manufacturers of Catalonia Alejandro Josa, who has exercised this function in recent years and who will continue as secretary of the Board of Directors. The relief has been effective since February 1.

The new director of the Catalan employers’ association has a degree in Marine Sciences from the University of Barcelona and a master’s degree in environmental engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. Until now, Salgado carried out the functions of technical and environmental manager of Ciment Català, which included the coordination of technical committees, representation activities before public administrations and participation and intervention in conferences and seminars related to the industry, the environment, sustainability, and the Circular Economy.

Ana Salgado has also developed research activity in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the UPC and as a scientist in the Department of Environmental Chemistry of the Institute of Environmental Diagnostics and Water Studies (IDAEA-CSIC). In this area, she has collaborated in the development of technologies for the management, prevention and reduction of pollution and the fundamental tools to guarantee environmental quality and sustainable development.

At the time of his replacement, Salgado has made explicit his desire, under the presidency of Salvador Fernández Capo, to continue the line of work undertaken and executed by Josa in recent years and focused on the promotion of a competitive cement industry, facilitator of social well-being and committed to the protection of natural and environmental environments.
