In line with its commitment to the economic and social development of the territory, Ciment Català participated in the meeting held by the Commission for the Expansion of Barcelona Airport on October 23. The working group presented its conclusions at this meeting, after more than a year of meetings of 29 public commissions, with a total of 49 registered members and 21 entities involved from all sectors of civil society.

The Commission was established in September 2022 under the auspices of the business organization Foment del Treball. This working group, which operates with the mission of “connecting Barcelona to the world through an intercontinental airport”, and which is commanded by the current president of the Chamber of Works Contractors of Catalonia (CCOC), Lluís Moreno, seeks reach a consensus with all Public Administrations in relation to the development of this crucial infrastructure.

The participation of the Agrupació de Fabricants de Ciment de Catalunya in this committee, under the responsibility of its president, Salvador Fernández Capo, aims to give visibility to the perspective of the sector within an expected agreement between all interested actors in the future of this vital element for the Catalan economy, taking into account the lack of investment in new infrastructures, which has been repeatedly pointed out by civil society. This step reaffirms the spirit of Ciment Català, as expressed for the first time in June 2001, when it joined the manifesto “Yes to the Airport Expansion Agreement”, signed by more than 200 entities who called for the expansion of Barcelona Airport.
