The provisional data for the month of May confirm the recovery of the magnitudes of Consumption and Production in the Catalan cement market. As can be seen in the attached table, the two indicators present double-digit percentage increases, both when referring to the current month, and when they are in relation to 2017, and also in the Annual Index (last 12 months).

The recovery of the cement sector occurs, but in a context of minimum activity, that’s why any increase is significant. We only have to remember that the little more than 1.7 million tons consumed in the last year are at the level of those used in Catalonia in 1964.

Despite this important nuance, it should also be noted that with the results achieved in May there are already 25 consecutive months of growth. Also in this magnitude, comparisons put things in their place: in the spring of 2015, when the current cycle began, there had been more than 7 years of descents in a row.
